Healthcare staff and volunteers honoured at star-studded Who Cares Wins Awards

The everyday heroes who work and volunteer within the NHS were honoured at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards last night.

A nurse who walked 10 miles through the snow to treat patients and a neonatal specialist who treated a baby who was smaller than a tin of beans when he was born were among the winners, as was a young car crash survivor who now fundraises for the hospital who helped him recover.

They were joined by celebrities, including Chris Evans and Richard Bacon, who came out in force to celebrate those who have helped support the NHS over its 70 year history.

33 finalists attended the ceremony, along with the people who nominated them.
