Would you be willing to go the extra mile for the NHS? What about 1,000 miles?
The NHS is celebrating its 70th birthday in July, but some people have started the party early by pledging to walk 1,000 miles over the course of the year as a birthday present to the National Health Service.
#NHS1000Miles was created by children’s nurse Kath Evans (@KathEvans2) to encourage people to get out and about over the next 12 months. Walking is good for improving your physical health as well as your mental health. This, in turn, benefits the health service.
If walking’s not your thing you could run, cycle or swim instead.
You have until December to cross the ‘finish line’ so it’s still not too late to join in. More than 2,500 people have already signed up.
Use the hashtag #NHS1000Miles on Facebook and Twitter to chart your progress, and maybe even inspire others to join in too.
